My brother Martin  and I decided one New Year's day to climb Pen-y-Fan in the Brecons, and then set up a free cafe on the summit. We lugged up a table, large gas stove, gas, water , tea bags, coffee, soup, milk , sugar and biscuits. It was difficult in the minus 4 temperatures to get the gas stove to work efficiently- the first few tea and coffee offerings were luke wam,- but we did improve things with a bit of tinkering. It was a real laugh and great to see the look of surprise on people's faces as they reached the summit.
